Lesson Options

Voice

  • Voice lessons are available for those age 7 and older. If you have a child under age 7 who is keen on singing, please contact me so that I can put you in touch with a teacher who may be suitable.

  • I am a classically trained singer, and I teach from this background. Students will be taught classical technique, with an emphasis on classical repertoire. Musical theatre, pop, jazz, and contemporary songs will be included as deemed effective by consideration of the student and me. My goal is to work through music that is achievable, challenging, and enjoyable for each singer!

  • Because a singer is, in the broader sense, a musician, basic theory will be taught in conjunction with singing, as appropriate.

    .

Piano

  • Piano lessons are available for students age 6 and older. Important: students must know the alphabet and numbers 1-10.

  • Students will complete theory workbooks in conjunction with their repertoire books.

Payment

  • Lesson payment is accepted monthly, upon receipt of invoice at the beginning of each month.

  • A $10 fee will be applied to late payments.

  • Payment is accepted by cash or e-transfer.

  • A $25 registration fee will be charged at the first lesson in September. Ask me about family discounts for fees!

  • A two-week written notice is required to discontinue lessons; tuition must be paid for this period, whether or not the lessons are attended.

  • Lesson fees are as follows:

    Voice

  • $23 for 30 minutes

  • $34 for 45 minutes

  • $45 for 1 hour

    Piano

  • $19 for 30 minutes

  • $28 for 45 minutes

  • $36 for 1 hour

Make-Up Lessons

  • Make-up lessons will be provided only if 24-hour notice is given. Each student will be given a maximum of two make-up lessons per year.

  • If less than 24-hour notice is given, a make-up lesson will not be provided.

  • No make-up lessons will be given for missed make-up lessons.

  • At times, a lesson will be cancelled due to my own performance activities. When this happens, I will do my best to reschedule the missed lesson(s); if I am unable to find a mutually agreeable time for a make-up, a refund or credit will be issued.

  • If several lessons will be missed consecutively (e.g., for family vacation), please let me know as far in advance as possible. I tend to be quite flexible in my scheduling.

  • I reserve the right to alter the make-up lesson policy at my discretion.

Performance Opportunities

Students are encouraged, but not required, to perform at least once a year. The sooner performance is begun, the sooner a student will gain confidence about performing. Opportunities made available to students at various times throughout the year may include:

  • recitals open to family and friends

  • adjudicated music festivals

  • concerts given at retirement homes, hospitals, etc. (If you have a suggestion for a performance venue, please let me know.)

  • Royal Conservatory examinations
